Cosmetics and beauty shops

# Beauty shop software that keeps shelves fresh.

Cosmetics shops juggle hundreds of products, shades and sizes, many with a shelf life, and customers who come back when they feel rewarded. poso gives you a fast till with loyalty, variants, expiry tracking and reorders in one system.

**What is poso for beauty shops?:**
poso is point of sale and inventory software for cosmetics and beauty shops. It handles product variants such as shades and sizes, tracks batches and expiry dates for skincare, haircare and fragrances, runs loyalty points and promotions at the till, reorders best sellers and includes full accounting. From $29 a month with a 30-day free trial.

## What you get

### Variants

One product, many shades, sizes or scents, each with its own barcode, stock and price.

### Shelf-life tracking

Batches and expiry dates on skincare, haircare and fragrances, sold oldest first.

### Loyalty and promotions

Points, discount codes and "buy two, get one" offers at the till.

### Reorder best sellers

Minimums per product so popular shades don't run out.

### Testers and samples

Move testers out of sellable stock with a reason, so stock and margins stay true.

### Profit by brand

Margins by brand, category and supplier.

## Shelf life in cosmetics

Cosmetics carry two kinds of date: an expiry or "best before" date on the pack, and a period-after-opening (PAO) symbol, such as 12M, that applies once the customer opens it. Shops manage the first; customers manage the second. Tracking batches with expiry dates in poso means older stock sells first and nothing past its date reaches a customer. Our [cosmetics shelf life guide](https://www.poso.co/guides/cosmetics-shelf-life-and-stock/) explains PAO, typical shelf lives and how to rotate stock.

| Product | Typical unopened shelf life* | Common PAO* |
|---|---|---|
| Mascara and liquid eyeliner | 2–3 years | 3–6 months |
| Foundation and concealer | 2–3 years | 6–12 months |
| Moisturisers and serums | 2–3 years | 6–12 months |
| Sunscreen | Printed expiry date | 6–12 months |
| Lipstick | 2–3 years | 12–24 months |
| Fragrance | 3–5 years | 24–36 months |

*Typical ranges only. Always follow the date and PAO symbol on the product.

## Good fit if…

- You run a cosmetics, beauty supply or skincare shop, or several.
- You sell many variants (shades, sizes, scents).
- You want loyalty and promotions without a separate app.
- You want to stop losing money to expired stock and testers.

### Does poso have a loyalty program?

Yes. Loyalty points, discount codes and promotions run at the till; customers are recognised by name or phone number.

### Can I track cosmetics expiry dates?
