## What counts as a user or a location?

A **user** is a person who logs in: an owner, pharmacist, cashier, store keeper or accountant. Customers and suppliers are never users and never cost anything. Users can be deactivated when staff leave, which frees the seat.

A **location** is a shop, branch or warehouse that holds its own stock. Shelves, rooms and store areas inside one shop do not count as extra locations.

## Setting up: free, or with our help

For every new shop we set up poso for your type of business and help import your product list from Excel; you enter opening stock and start selling. [Our getting-started guide](https://www.poso.co/get-started/) walks through it, and we help import your product list during the trial. For chains and wholesalers we offer guided onboarding: data migration from your old system, opening balances, training and go-live support. [Ask for a quote](https://app.poso.co/contact?topic=onboarding&src=pricing).

## Do I need special hardware?

No. poso runs in a web browser on the computer, tablet or phone you already have. A USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner and a receipt printer make the counter faster; most standard models work. See [what a pharmacy POS needs](https://www.poso.co/guides/what-is-a-pharmacy-pos/).

## Pricing questions

### Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every plan starts with a 30-day free trial with all features. No card is needed to start. At the end of the trial you choose a plan and pay; if you don't, your shop becomes read-only so nothing is lost.

### How does "2 months free" work?

Pay for a year up front and you pay for 10 months instead of 12. For example, Growth is $790 a year instead of $948.

### Can I change plans later?

Yes. Move up or down at any time. Your products, stock, sales and accounts stay exactly as they are.

### Are all features included in every plan?

Yes. Every plan includes the point of sale, offline selling, inventory, batch and expiry tracking, purchasing, customer credit and accounting. Plans differ in the number of users and locations and in the level of support.

### Can I pay in my own currency or by mobile money?

Prices are set in US dollars. Ask us about paying in your local currency and by mobile money or bank transfer where available.

### What happens if I stop paying?

Your shop becomes read-only: you and your staff can still log in, view and export everything, but cannot record new sales until the subscription is paid. Your data is not deleted.

### Is there a contract or cancellation fee?

No. Monthly plans can be cancelled at any time and run until the end of the paid month. Yearly plans run for the year you paid.

### Do you charge per transaction?

No. There are no fees per sale, per invoice or per product. You pay the plan price only.

### How does poso compare on price with other pharmacy software?

Pharmacy software ranges from one-off desktop licences to monthly cloud subscriptions. What matters is the total cost: licence, setup, hardware, backups, updates and support. Our [pharmacy software buyer's guide](https://www.poso.co/best-pharmacy-software/) explains what to expect and what to compare.
