Comparisons

Honest comparisons.

Choosing software is easier when the trade-offs are written down plainly. These comparisons say when poso is the right choice, and when something else is.

How to use these comparisons

Most shops choose between three paths: keep using notebooks and spreadsheets, buy desktop software, or move to cloud software; and between one all-in-one system or separate tools for sales and accounts. Each comparison below covers cost, effort, risk and the situations where each option wins.

How we write comparisons

We compare approaches rather than naming competitors, because product features change often and we would rather not publish claims about other companies' software that may go out of date. Every comparison lists the cases where poso is not the best fit. If you spot something wrong, tell us.

Quick answers

Is poso better than a spreadsheet?

For shops with expiry-dated stock, staff handling cash or more than a couple of hundred products, yes. For a tiny shop, a spreadsheet can be enough. See poso vs spreadsheets.

Is cloud or desktop pharmacy software better?

Cloud with an offline-capable till suits most pharmacies; desktop suits shops with no internet for days at a time. See cloud vs desktop.
