Know what is on every shelf.

poso keeps a live count of every product in every shop. Sales, deliveries, returns and transfers update stock the moment they happen, so the number on screen matches the shelf.

Short answer

poso inventory management tracks stock in real time across shops and warehouses. It handles units and packs (buy by the carton, sell by the piece), batch numbers and expiry dates, stock counts and adjustments, transfers between locations, reorder rules and stock valuation, and every movement keeps a full history of who did what and when.

What you get

Live stock levels

On-hand, reserved and incoming quantities for every product and location, updated with every sale and delivery.

Units and packs

Buy in cartons, sell in boxes, strips or pieces. poso converts between units so stock is always counted in one base unit.

Batches and expiry

Every batch with its expiry date, and first-expiry-first-out picking.

Stock counts

Count all stock or a few products at a time. poso shows the differences and fixes the books.

Reorder rules

A minimum and maximum per product. poso lists what to buy and drafts the order.

Stock value

The value of your stock at cost, by product, category or location, updated as you buy and sell.

Every movement has a history

Each change to stock is a recorded move: received from a supplier, sold, returned, transferred, adjusted after a count or written off as expired. You can open any product and see where every unit came from and where it went. When numbers don't match, the history shows why, which is the first step to cutting stock losses.

Setting up products

Import your product list from Excel: name, barcode, category, unit, cost, selling price and whether the product is tracked by batch. You can add pack sizes and supplier details later. For a typical shop the first import takes an afternoon; we help during your trial.

  • Categories (for example antibiotics, analgesics, seeds, feeds, skincare)
  • Barcodes for the unit and for each pack size
  • Cost price and selling price, or a margin per category
  • Batch and expiry tracking switched on where it matters
  • Supplier, supplier code and supplier price

Locations inside a shop

Split a shop into areas if it helps: front shelves, dispensary, back store, cold chain. Stock can be moved between areas and counted separately, and none of this counts as an extra location on your plan. Separate shops and warehouses are handled in multi-branch.

Slow movers and dead stock

Reports show what has not sold in 30, 60 or 90 days, so you can stop reordering it, move it to a branch that sells it, or return it to the supplier before it expires. Read our pharmacy inventory guide for a monthly routine.

Inventory questions

What is the best inventory software for a pharmacy?

One that tracks batches and expiry dates, sells first-expiry-first-out, converts between packs and units, reorders automatically and posts stock to the accounts. That is what poso does. See pharmacy inventory software.

Can poso handle products sold by weight or volume?

Yes. Products can be sold by kilo, gram, litre, millilitre, bag or piece, which is common in agrovets.

How does poso value my stock?

Stock is valued at cost. Each product category can use average cost, first-in-first-out cost or a standard cost, and the value updates with every purchase and sale.

Can I see stock for all my branches at once?

Yes. With more than one location you see stock per branch or in total, and move stock between branches. See multi-branch.
